Photographer Steven C Borack Brings nature Closer in Fall Photo Exhibitation of Dragonflies at the Brookline Arts Center
September 9 - November 14, 2008
(Brookline, MA – August 5, 2008) Randolph photographer Steven Borack will present Dragonflies: A Closer Look by Steven Borack at the Brookline Arts Center from September 9 through November 14, 2008.
“These exquisite photographs show details, textures and colors that are usually hidden in plain sight,” according to Susan Navarre, Executive Director of the Brookline Arts Center. “Steven’s photographs show an assurance and mastery of composition and color that turn a backyard insect into a marvel of nature, when seen up close. I think our visitors will really be surprised.”
Borack has identified prime dragonfly habitats in the ponds and streams near his home. He has learned all the tricks of dragonfly behavior and movement that are necessary for him to record these tiny creatures in full detail. “The approach is not easy: you think that your photos are sharp, but you have to focus within a millimeter,” says Borack. “When the photos come out right, they are a great way to educate people about the natural environment.”
Steven C. Borack was a scientific photographer at Harvard Medical School for twenty years, while also publishing his photographs regularly in the Brookline Chronicle newspaper. Dragonflies: A Closer Look by Steven Borack is on view Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 4:30pm. The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth St., at the corner of St. Mary’s Street, and is convenient to public transportation.
